Key West Fishing Charter Report: Tarpon, Permit & Bonefish Action Heating Up This Week

Hey guys, this is Captain Ryan Carter here giving you the weekly inshore fishing report down in Key West, Florida!

The tarpon fishing continues to be absolutely phenomenal, but we’re now seeing an exciting transition from migrational fish to more of our resident local schools of tarpon being caught. These silver kings are putting on quite a show for our Key West fishing charter guests, with consistent hookups throughout the day.

There are a few schools of permit beginning to leave their spawning areas and making their way back to the flats, which is always an incredible sight to witness. Seeing these tailing permit cruising the shallow waters gets every angler’s heart racing – it’s what makes a Key West fishing charter truly unforgettable.

The bone fishing has been absolutely incredible over the last two weeks. There’s nothing quite like fishing the crystal clear waters of our pristine flats, scanning for that elusive “grey ghost” gliding through the shallows. The challenge of sight fishing for bonefish is hard to beat and consistently ranks as a highlight for clients on our Key West fishing charter trips.

For bonefish, your best bet to trigger a strike is a small bucktail jig or a well-presented shrimp fly. The key is a delicate presentation and reading the fish’s body language as they approach your offering.

Water conditions have been ideal with excellent visibility, and weather patterns are looking favorable for the upcoming week. Book your Key West fishing charter now to experience some of the best inshore fishing opportunities Florida has to offer!

Tight lines,
Captain Ryan Carter
