Fishing around Key West has been excellent, with plenty of action for anglers of all skill levels.
The inshore bite has been especially strong, with large numbers of juvenile tarpon providing exciting light-tackle action. These hard-fighting fish have been a blast to catch on our light Esky rods, delivering plenty of jumps and drag-screaming runs in the backcountry and harbor waters.
Mangrove snapper fishing has also been producing well. Anglers are finding quality fish on the shallow wrecks and throughout the local channels. Live bait and fresh-cut bait have been the top producers, with steady action and some impressive keeper-sized snapper coming over the rails.
For those looking for a real tug-of-war, the shark fishing has been fantastic in the backcountry. We’ve been encountering a variety of sharks, with several powerful fish providing memorable battles and exciting opportunities for anglers looking to test their skills.
With calm summer conditions and plenty of fish around, now is a great time to get out on the water. Whether you’re targeting tarpon, snapper, sharks, or simply looking to enjoy a day on the beautiful waters of Key West, the fishing has been as good as it gets.
