Hey guys, Captain Ryan Carter here with your weekly inshore fishing report from Key West, Florida.

This week, we’ve been working the mangrove islands and the wind-blocked channels, which have been offering calm, comfortable conditions and steady action. Pitching live baits tight under the trees has produced a solid mix of mangrove snapper, jacks, barracuda, and even some small tarpon willing to play.

Out in the surrounding channels, the yellowjacks are still plentiful. Most are smaller, but we’ve seen a few bigger ones mixed in. They’ve been eating artificial jigs well—just let the jig sink to the bottom and give the rod tip a few pops to imitate a shrimp. That subtle action has been the key to getting the bite.
